The presentation will introduce some of the challenges encountered in writing parallel or concurrent programs and some of the possible ways to address them. Similarities between synchronization problems and Control Systems problems will be emphasized. The talk will be concluded with a discussion of current research on the application of Control Systems methods to the automatic generation of coordination and synchronization code of parallel programs.
